Open Minds Quarterly: Summer 2006

Volume VIII, Issue II

The Summer 2006 issue featured Jan Kelly’s story that acknowledges the amazing support that she has received from her family during her episodes of bipolar disorder and asks of each of her three sons to express how her illness has affected them; a story on how a little girl turned to dissociation techniques to escape from sexual abuse; a book review on Jacqueline Mifflin’s book “Reading to Heal” which offers advice on how to get the most out of what you read; a fictional journal written by a character who has manic-depression and bipolar affective disorder; and a poem about a woman who despite all of the trauma of having a mental illness, through the Grace of God, was a survivor.
