Open Minds Quarterly: Spring 2012

Volume XIV, Issue I

The Spring 2012 issue included a story about one woman taking her first steps outside after a lifetime with depression and treatment with medication; a poem about a once talented violin player whose violin now sits useless in a corner after the violinist experienced mental illness and found himself living on the streets; a hopeful story that tells the perspective of a ‘normal’ child who felt forgotten in a family struggling with mental illness; the reflections on the psychotic journeys of one psychiatric consumer; a review of the two books “The Pocket Therapist” and “Beyond Blue” by Therese Borchard; and a poem written from the perspective of two parents who express their love for their young daughter with schizophrenia. The winners of the 10th Annual BrainStorm Poetry Contest were also featured inside.
