On July 5th and 6th Open Minds Quarterly attended Sudbury’s annual folk festival, Northern Lights Festival Boréal. The festival welcomes a diversity of artisans and merchants – from near and far – who through their various efforts, promote the creative spirit in our community. With a space for our literature, we were able to gain further exposure and meet community members, sharing the work we do, and listening to people’s stories.
We also held a magnetic poetry contest. We invited festival-goers to write a poem with magnetic letters. We then asked our website visitors to vote on the best poem, considering which poem they felt most connected to, which was the most well-written, or the most creative. The poll ended September 30, 2014, and we are pleased to announce and present the winner here. Congratulations to:
for her poem
between balance and falling over
it’s a secret I try to accept
my thought isn’t my own
I wonder who they see
Haley will receive a free copy of this issue of OMQ. Thank you to all of our entrants and voters.
